Meaning
under test.
SYGIL is a symbolic and operational framework for turning perception into structured inquiry, creative work, and decisions. It gives meaning a place in the process, then asks what the evidence can bear.
What the system is for
A pattern can be meaningful without being a fact. A symbol can help you remember an experience without explaining its cause. SYGIL keeps those uses available while requiring a separate path for claims about the world.
It may not certify truth.
The framework is a tool made by people. Its names, stories, and roles have no authority over the operator. Any procedure should be revisable when it stops helping.
Three layers.
Seven functions.
The layers describe how an impression can become something useful. None of them can replace independent evidence or a person's judgment.
Myth
Compresses complex experience into memorable symbols and stories. It can suggest a question, but it cannot answer one by itself.
Structure
Protocols, artifacts, the Council, and the Wiki make interpretations traceable, challengeable, and open to revision.
Contact
Operations, other people, and outcomes outside the framework test whether an idea survives contact with the world.
Myth
Portable meaning. Its risk is that the summary starts to feel more real than the experience it summarizes.
Protocols
Explicit steps for attention and action. A protocol should serve a purpose, not become ritual for its own sake.
Artifacts
Records that can outlast a session or mood. Curation matters; accumulation alone creates noise.
Council
The Analyst asks what evidence supports; the Witness asks who is affected; the Adversary asks what would disprove the reading.
Operations
Trials with real uncertainty and a possible failure condition. The result can change the model.
Wiki
A reference for terms and revisions. Canon records the current model; it does not make the model permanent.
Sanctum
Other minds test clarity and usefulness. Agreement within a group is still not independent proof.
From signal to revision
An interpretation earns operational weight only when alternatives and failure conditions are visible.
Three people independently report hearing the same phrase in a building. No recording has been found.
Choose the next move. This is a demonstration of the method, not an assessment of you.
Pick a move to see what it permits—and what it cannot establish.
How it can fail
A useful architecture names its own corruption states. These are signals to stop, reduce confidence, or change the procedure.
Art, metaphor, and personal meaning do not need to pass a laboratory test. The rule applies when an interpretation becomes a claim that guides decisions or describes external reality.
The operator keeps the final say.
Use the myth to notice. Use the method to question. Let outcomes revise the map. The framework succeeds only while it helps people think, create, and act with more freedom and care.
